Virgin Voyages includes several things that can be separate purchases on another cruise. The useful question is how those inclusions fit the way you travel. A restaurant-focused traveler and someone who mainly wants ports and quiet afternoons may value the same fare differently.
The quick answer: Restaurant dining, essential drinks, Wi-Fi, entertainment, and group fitness are included. Alcohol and many optional experiences cost extra. Check the service-gratuity terms attached to your booking.
| Included feature | What to expect | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Dining | Meals across Virgin’s included eateries | Reservations, opening hours and any optional premium items |
| Essential drinks | Water, soda, drip coffee, tea and non-pressed juices | Specialty beverages and alcohol have separate pricing |
| Wi-Fi | Included connectivity | Whether you need an upgrade for your intended use |
| Entertainment | Onboard shows and scheduled activities | Your ship’s lineup and any separate-charge experiences |
| Group fitness | Group classes and gym access | Availability and booking requirements |
Allow for alcoholic drinks and specialty beverages, Shore Things excursions, spa purchases, shopping, casino spending, and other optional extras. Your flights, hotel nights and ground transfers also belong in the total vacation budget. Check pricing before ordering room delivery or selecting an upgraded experience.
Older advice about universally included gratuities can be misleading for a new reservation. Virgin’s current FAQ lists service gratuities at $22 USD per Sailor per day onboard, or $20 USD per night when prepaid. Ask us to confirm the treatment for your booking, fare and benefits. Prepaid gratuities have their own terms.
For example, two adults on a five-night voyage would budget $200 at the published prepaid rate, if that rate applies to their reservation. Keep this line separate from optional drinks and excursions when comparing quotes.
Your fare includes dining, but a preferred table at a preferred time still depends on availability. Choose the meals you care about most and check your reservation access. Our restaurant guide explains how to build a flexible dining plan.
Make a list of what you would actually buy on each trip. Add Wi-Fi, dining upgrades, essential drinks and fitness only if you would use them. Then add the extras you expect to purchase on Virgin. Compare that total against a quote for the same number of nights and similar accommodation.
Included features can make planning simpler. They do not automatically make every sailing the cheapest choice. A useful comparison includes the cabin, itinerary, transport and booking flexibility as well as onboard benefits.
On designated hosted community cruises, Social Vacations adds opportunities to meet people before departure and onboard. Our community events are free when you book through us. See how the community experience works, then choose the sailing and fare that fit your plans.
