Your Next Vacation Comes with Friends.
Considering your first Virgin Voyages cruise? Start with the decisions that shape your vacation: where to sail, which cabin to book, what your fare covers, and who you want to share the experience with. This Virgin Voyages guide brings those decisions together so you can plan with confidence.
Social Vacations welcomes solo travelers, couples, groups of friends, and adult families. Our hosted community cruises give you an easy way to meet people before departure and familiar faces to enjoy the trip with.

Reviewed October 2, 2026. Social Vacations is an independent travel business. Booking benefits and policies depend on your reservation.
Virgin Voyages offers adults-only cruises with restaurant-focused dining and a contemporary atmosphere. Rather than one large main dining room, you can plan meals around a variety of venues. That makes the line worth considering if trying different restaurants is a big part of your vacation.
Think about how you actually want to spend your days. Do you want port time, leisurely meals, evening entertainment, or time to relax? Start there, rather than choosing a sailing only because you recognize the ship’s name.
Traveling solo does not mean you have to spend the whole cruise alone. A community cruise creates opportunities to connect while leaving room for your own plans. Couples and friends can enjoy the same balance: people to spend time with and freedom to do their own thing.
Your cabin choice should reflect how much time you expect to spend there, how important outdoor space is to you, and how much of your budget you want to reserve for the rest of the trip.
Category alone does not tell the whole story. Before booking, check the exact cabin’s location, occupancy, layout, view restrictions, and proximity to public venues. If you are comparing two cabins, ask us to explain what changes between them.
Compare the complete vacation cost, rather than just the headline fare. Your budget should account for the cabin, taxes and fees, applicable service gratuities, transportation, hotel nights, and any purchases you plan to make on board or ashore.
Virgin’s restaurant offering includes 20+ eateries, with dining included. Drinks, selected extras, and other purchases can still add to your spending. Review what your particular fare includes before paying.
Virgin’s VoyageFair Choices apply to Sea Terrace and below cabins. Base, Essential, and Premium fares offer different terms and benefits. A lower initial fare can come with tighter restrictions, so compare flexibility alongside price.
Cancellation terms depend on the fare and when you booked. For bookings made on or after October 7, 2025, Virgin lists Base and Lock It In payments as non-refundable apart from taxes and fees, with no grace period, date or name changes, or Future Voyage Credit. Read the terms attached to your quote before committing.
Do not assume that older articles describing universally included gratuities apply to a new reservation. Virgin’s current published policy lists a daily service gratuity of $22 USD per Sailor on board, or $20 USD per night when prepaid. Ask us to confirm how the policy applies to your booking and any included benefits.

Dining is a useful place to begin planning your onboard experience. Virgin offers options including The Wake, Pink Agave, Extra Virgin, Gunbae, and Test Kitchen, alongside casual venues. Restaurant offerings can differ between ships, so check your sailing rather than assuming every venue is identical across the fleet.
Pick a few meals you particularly want to experience, then leave space for flexibility. Consider whether you prefer a quieter dinner, a lively shared experience, or a meal built around trying something new.
Advance dining access varies by fare and accommodation. Confirm your reservation window for your booking instead of relying on a single countdown copied from an older guide. Coordinate with traveling companions early, and remember that a reservation is subject to availability.
Start with the region and departure port that work for you. Then compare the time available in each destination, the number of sea days, total trip length, and the cost of getting to the ship.
Two cruises of the same length can feel very different. More port days mean more opportunities to explore, but can also mean more early mornings and excursion spending. Sea days give you more time to enjoy the ship and your travel companions.
Before booking flights, check embarkation and disembarkation arrangements for your exact sailing. Our recommendation is to arrive in the departure city ahead of sailing day whenever practical.
Our recommendation is to avoid filling every hour before you board. Leave room for a conversation that turns into dinner, an unexpected favorite venue, or an afternoon you simply want to spend relaxing.

A cruise gives you a destination. A community gives you people to enjoy it with. On our hosted community cruises, you can get acquainted through a Telegram group before the cruise and a hotel meet & greet the night before departure.
We welcome solo travelers, couples, groups of friends, and adult families. You can join the activities that appeal to you and enjoy your own plans when you prefer. Check each hosted sailing for its specific community schedule.
Social Vacations community events are free when you book through Social Vacations. There is never an extra cost. It’s all free when you book through us. This refers to our community events; your cruise fare, hotel, transportation, drinks, excursions, and other travel purchases remain separate expenses.
